Stampacchia Award Gold Medal for Mathematics for the best student

Named in memory of the Italian mathematician Guido Stampacchia, the “Stampacchia Medal” is an internationally recognized award for young mathematicians, with an age limit of 35 years old. Born with a collaboration between the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI) and the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture, the recognition is awarded for outstanding contributions to the field of calculus of variations and its applications.
The winners are selected by an international committee of highly regarded mathematicians, appointed by the UMI, and created to find research that has received the widest international recognition.
The award ceremony takes place every three years in the Dirac Hall of the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture during the inauguration of the International Conference on Variational Analysis and its Applications, the opening event of the International School of Mathematics «Guido Stampacchia» one of the oldest schools in Erice.
