INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF RADIATION DAMAGE AND PROTECTION

As the use of X-rays, charged and uncharged particles, radioisotopes and electromagnetic radiation in research, industry, and medicine (for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes) increases, so does the need to investigate protection techniques, as this radiation can be harmful to healthy tissue. The interdisciplinary nature of this particular field of research and development involves the sciences of physics, medicine and biology. The International School of Radiation Damage and Protection organises courses and seminars to give scientists the opportunity to discuss in general all facets of the vast field of radiation protection. These topics include fundamental problems related to radiobiology, dosimetry, the various uses of radiation and its effects on the environment.
