INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTIVE MEDICINE «GIUSEPPE D’ALESSANDRO»

The school

In the field of epidemiology and preventive medicine, promoting complete physical, mental and socio-economic well-being is more important than the medical aspects of protecting and promoting health and eradicating disease among the human population. In recent years, new contributions from other sciences have enriched epidemiological methods. Their applications have been extended to various disease phenomena with extensive references to social and environmental causes. Preventive medicine has also received a new impetus from growing knowledge of the causes of non-infectious diseases, greater public awareness of health promotion issues, and doctors' growing interest in disease prevention in addition to therapeutic medicine. The School of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine aims to contribute to the training of healthcare professionals. It is primarily aimed at young researchers working in the fields of prevention and epidemiology. It intends to coordinate activities and act as a centre for the exchange of information. The School will also update them on specific technological and methodological aspects from related non-medical sciences. Recent graduates will receive their training at the School through multidisciplinary courses at various levels. These courses will cover both issues related to epidemiological methods and the theoretical and practical prerequisites for the practice of preventive medicine.
